1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken hinge pin. This video is applicable to 1988-1999 GMC and Chevy pickup and SUV models.
1A Auto shows you how to fix your sagging and sloppy door hinges on your 1988-98 Chevy or GMC Silverado Sierra Pickup Truck and 1992-99 Suburban, Yukon , Tahoe SUV. Worn out hinge pins can cause the doors to open or close poorly and even jam.
hey mike,
i watch your videos all the time. on these doors what hapens when the hinge holes have become elongated? and do the doors on these trucks leak water from the seal when the hnge becomes bad?
thanks for your time
I replaced my pins on my drivers side about a year and a half ago. Well they are already shot. Any grease or special lube you could use to keep them from wearing so fast?
I usually have a pretty strict policy of not buying parts over the internet as in the past they have shown themselves to be of poorer quality. However, because i've used these videos that you make so much I think I will give 1a-auto a try. Keep it up.
Thanks for the video. Only problem I ran into was the springs. Did you end up making another video in regards to putting the springs back in? I tried many different tools (pliers, vice grips, etc.) but to no avail. Thanks again.
Great video, is there any way you can do the door pins and bushings for a 2003 gmc sierra with newer body style? The hinges have 2 pins and bushings per hinge.
Great Video!! I did this job this afternoon in about an hour by myself. I just used a large air car lift jack that has two pedestals rather than one, and I duct taped a soccer ball to the jack to fill the gap between it and the door, and then cargo strapped the jack to the door... the only problem I had was that dang spring!... after the 6th attempt of the evening... I decided to tackle it tomorrow morning when I'm fresh. Even as an experienced mechanic, I would have not done this without this.
