The Doors were founded by Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison in Los Angeles in 1965. They released their eponymous debut album, which contained their hit single Light My Fire, in 1967 and went on to be one of the most controversial and influential rock acts of the sixties. Jim Morrison's early death in Paris in 1971 only served to fuel their legend and both he and the band have continued to enjoy iconic status for more than thirty years.
This incredible performance of Light My Fire is from the Eagle Vision DVD "Live in Europe", which is available now.
Each to their own music taste, but if we're speaking worth here, I can factually state that she is at the very least worth money and critical praise. Adele's album 21 has sold over 22 millions copies, making her album the best-selling of the 21st century. In the UK this album has not dropped out of the top 5 for 63 consecutive weeks so far. She managed to do this with no touring nor corporate advertising involved, as she stepped out of the limelight. Doing that takes a certain something.
Their music wasn't really about drugs. So that's an assumption on your part, ontop of them being a 60's band, what band of the era really wasn't influenced BY drugs? Some of their music was very deep about taking control, as how it should be, not be brainwashed zombies by the corporation, which in return you think is "destructive" have you see what's on today's radio & television? THAT is destructive to society today, NOT what the Doors were doing.
seriously if you dont enjoy listening to the doors and you dislike jim, then why would you go out of your way to listen to this song? did you just come here to be negative and talk badly about a great musician? if you dont like it then dont talk badly about it just ignore it. its people like you who make the world a worse place not jim and the doors.
I am 50. It wouldn't matter how old I am his behaviour is not what you'd want your kid to emulate. Morrison was at the forefront of the destructive counter - culture...
There is no good music today. Under or above the ground. The music that's supposed to be "underground" is just as bad as the mainstream. It's unfortunate.
I don't think that's true at all but to each their own. I happen to enjoy music from both the modern underground and mainstream as well as some of the older stuff.
